Valentine's Weekend

We always have a fun time celebrating our love during February!  Alex and Henry had a small Valentine's party on Thursday during the day.

Our ward doesn't really have any play groups so Alex was so excited to have some friends over! 

That night we treated the boys to The Lego Movie at the drive-in.  A drive-in in the middle of February?  Thanks to living in the desert the weather was perfect!

The boys loved the movie.  Henry was a little less enthralled... but it was perfect for his first real movie (and he was free!)  William cannot stop singing the song.

We were lucky that Valentine's Day also happened to be a teacher in-service day.  It was a much needed day off!  The boys awoke to some small gifts (super hero belts for the big boys and a short-sleeved batman shirt for little Henry) and breakfast on the table. 

After lunch we decorated the left-over cookies from our party.

Rich and I went out to eat that night but Saturday night we had a "fancy" candle-lit dinner.  The boys loved it!

Valentine's Day is always one of my favorites--and this year didn't disappoint.

There are some days that have perfect moments in them.  Yesterday was one of those days.  Alex was so pleasant and volunteered to help me with some Energy Balls for our after school snack.  He and I even had a nice little conversation while we rolled the balls.  He's got so many great ideas in that little head of his!

Every Fast Sunday I teasingly ask the boys if they are going to go up and bear their testimonies in Sacrament Meeting.  Today Alex actually said yes.  And then he got up and did it.  We were all surprised!  I could tell that he was a little nervous--there were big long pauses as he gazed over the large congregation--but he did it.  It was so simple and sweet.  He said: "I know Jesus is true.  I know the church is true.  I know the gospel is true.  In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen."  That was it.  I, of course, got teary eyed. 

This boy can be such a handful at times so I was impressed by him in so many different ways.  First, that he wanted to get up.  Second, that he actually did it even after seeing so many people.  Third, that he knew what to say.  And finally, that he was able to speak clearly enough to be understood.  We've struggled so much with his speech over the last 2 1/2 years that it is amazing that he now has the confidence to speak in front of a large audience and that those listening know what he is saying.

I am so proud of this little munchkin!




**He's also been struggling with sitting still and paying attention in primary... but the reports today were stellar.  Hooray!
