Beach Weekend (Saturday continued)

Sometime Saturday afternoon we headed down to Carmel.

The beaches in this part of California are beautiful--and different from any other beaches I've been to.  We wandered the beach for a little bit and let the kids play in the sand.

Ryan even held Henry for a bit... but he was just too squirmy!  He was a momma's boy all weekend long.

Oh how I love these ladies!

After a bit we headed up to look at the shops.  (Except for Lucy.  She had a project in the sand she was working on with Mark.  So the Mark, Michelle, and baby Lizzie stayed down at the beach.)

We found some snapdragons along the sidewalk so I showed the kids (and Royce) how to make them talk.  (This was our favorite things to do with the snapdragons in my Grandma's garden.)

We happened upon a candy shop that was just too cute (and pricey!).

While we waited for the cars to be brought up we sat behind the little sweet shop and Lori had a impromptu photo shoot with Henry.

I just can't decide which one is my favorite!

Phew!  You thought that was a lot of pictures!  You should have seen how many I didn't post.

And Royce was super awesome at keeping the troops entertained.

Ryan really wanted to eat at Phil's Fish Martket so that is where we headed next.

The line was long and cold...

...but the food was worth it!  (Plus, we scored a table indoors!)  Henry and I got the clam chowder in a bread bowl which we both loved.

Later that evening, when all the children were in bed, the men built a bonfire for us.

And aside from the fact that I discovered Henry awake and so sad with Michelle when I arrived back at the house, it was the perfect way to end the day.

Beach Weekend (continued)

**I really apologize in advance... but there are going to be a TON of pictures in this post.  A big thanks to Lori, Michelle, and Ryan for taking the majority of them :)

We packed a bunch of fun into our Saturday--our only full day all together.  In the morning we played a few games.  The little ones played some Chutes and Ladders

While the adults played a rousing game of "how-many-trivial-pursuit-questions-can-you-answer-in-a-minute?".  (Although I'm sure there was a much better name for it!)

And what's the point of going to a beach house if you don't head down to the beach--right?  (Lucy certainly felt that way!  I think she would have spent every waking moment down there if Lori let her!)  So we headed down to walk in the sand.  Henry thought it was pretty awesome.

I loved these two with their little matching outfits!

Spencer, Henry and I off to explore some beach treasures.

Henry was pretty interested in all that sand!

After exploring for a while and finding lots of treasures....

.... Ryan put on a fantastic magic show.

I think this picture of Heather raising her hand is my favorite one from the magic show.  I love it!

But this one could be a close second.

I think even Henry was pretty interested.

And then for the finale, Michelle and Mark did the orange trick.  That one never ceases to amaze me.

And now we will take an intermission... because the second half of Saturday has much too much to show...
