We had a fun time making gifts again for Christmas. For last Mother's Day the boys gave me some bath bombs. I let them use a few and they think it's pretty awesome. So for Christmas Henry made some bath bombs for his brothers. He had a fun time mixing them together. We attempted to make them into shapes but it didn't work so well. Instead we rolled them into balls. We must have added too much liquid though because they flattened out like cookies when they dried! Oh well. The boys still really enjoyed them.
I made this nativity for Elise. I really like it and now I want to make one for myself.
The little boys helped me make Christmas treats!
James had the most labor intense gifts to make. He chose to make pillowcases for each brother. He even came to the fabric store with me to pick out fabric for each brother. (And now I know never to go to Joann's the Saturday after Thanksgiving! Sheesh! We waited for over 2 hours to get our fabric cut!!!)
William made these little story disc games. He created a theme for each bag, drew a picture on several discs to fit the theme, and made a bag for each. The boys have had a fun time playing. They pull out 5 or 6 of the discs and have to make up a story using them. It's fun to see what they come up with!
Alex really wanted to do something with paint. We ended up getting these little wood rectangles which he painted and glued a magnet to the back of them. It was fun to see him carefully pick out the colors he thought each brother would like and then come up with a different design for each.
It really took me a long time to come up with something the boys could do for Rich this year. In fact, we worked on this just a few days before Christmas. We used a freezer paper stencil to paint the front of the shirt.
Then we took fabric markers and each boy got to draw himself and write his name (I wrote Henry's name and drew something for Lydia). It was super fun to make and Rich loved it.
Sometimes it's hard to come up with something for everyone to make but it's worth it to see how proud they are of what they've created to give to each other!

pay it forward
I love to get free stuff... I probably inherited that from my dad. He's the king of getting stuff for free. So when I saw this game on Katie's blog I thought I'd give you all a chance to play and get free stuff in the process. Katie is going to send me a handmade gift from her and in return I will send a handmade gift to the first three people who leave a comment on my blog requesting to join this Pay It Forward exchange. You may not get it in the near future but I'll have it to you in the next 365 days! All you have to do in return is pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog. (So, you must have a blog to participate.) If you want to get something from me you have to give to 3 people. Who's it going to be? Leave a comment and we'll see...
