March 2020--pre-quarantine

March started out with lots of fun.

Alex and Henry dressed matching for twin day at school.

Our fruit trees were all in bloom!

Lydia and I enjoyed the park while the boys did karate.

We discovered a brand new playground in town.  It was lots of fun!

Lydia joined Rich when he went over to the Huntsman's to help with seminary stuff.  They came home with lots of eggs and meat!  Lydia took complete ownership of those eggs and we had to ask if we could use them!

Right before everything shut down I decided I should head to the store to grab a few things (especially since James's birthday was the next week and he had specific requests).  The store was insane!  Shopping carts full of food and just abandoned in the aisles! Lines wrapped around the store!

We got quite a bit of rain and we loved playing outside in it!

Rich and I went to the temple over the weekend and I'm so glad that we did since the temples are closed for the foreseeable future.

Alex, Henry, and Lydia had one last class before everything was shut down.  Lydia was lucky to be one of 3 girls in attendance so she got lots of one-on-one attention.

March preschool

We had a few weeks of preschool in March... and they ended up being our very last!

We took a little field trip over to Trader Joe's.  The kids were so well behaved!

They loved walking into the big freezer, learning about the box crusher, and the smelly cheese!  They loved the snack of apple juice and school house cookies we got there.

We all came home with goody bags too! We made a thank you note for our Trader Joe's friends, read Green Eggs and Ham (since it was Dr. Seuss's birthday the day before) and played outside.

We talked about the letter X.  We read some of Aesop's fables about foxes.  We made x's with our bodies.

We painted x's and worked on drawing them.  We even made x's with our snacks!

Then we read Not A Box and made our very own not-a-box.

The next week at Jake's house they read Where the Wild Things Are... they got to gnash their teeth and cause a rumpus! They practiced using scissors to make crowns like Max's.

The Coronavirus began to hit that week... so they talked about the virus and made some soap.

And that ended our preschool adventure!  We didn't know that these would be the last few weeks and it's sad that we didn't get to end how we wanted to.  All these kids will be in kindergarten next year!  Crazy to think about that.

New Sports

In February Alex, Henry, and Lydia decided to try out some new sports!  Henry and Alex started karate and Lydia is trying ballet.  I found some classes at the community center on Saturday mornings.  First a 30 ballet class for Lydia, then a 30 minute break, and afterward 1 1/2 hour karate class.  The class description said that it was an hour... so it was quite a surprise when it kept going!

The first week Alex was sick so it was just Henry and Lydia.  They both really liked their classes.  Lydia did great  playing quietly for so long during karate and Henry stuck it out through the whole class.  Since that extra 30 minutes was unexpected I treated Henry and Lydia to some Dippin' Dots (I get a free cup every month this year.)

In between ballet and karate we usually head out to the car, listen to music or a story, and get a snack.

Everyone seems to enjoy their classes and they have learned a lot. 

We had just signed up for another month of classes and then the Coronavirus hit the country... so classes were cancelled and refunded.  Hopefully they'll want to join again when life is back to normal.

February 2020

February is a short month but it was a busy one.  Alex and Henry had a Fun Run at school.

I made a class fun run flag for Henry's class.

Lydia always has fun with my camera at the park.

It was Valentine's Day!!  We had fettuccine alfredo and then chocolate fondue for dessert.  Rich brought home flowers for me and Lydia.

I always love finding Lydia asleep.  She is just too sweet.

We found the HUGEST strawberry!

One of Rich's seminary students brought in a chick to show the class.  He couldn't bring it to school so we watched it for the day until he came to pick it up after school.  It was pretty cute and Lydia loved it.

At the last minute one Saturday Rich and I were given tickets to a UNLV basketball game.  It was so much fun!

For Christmas Rachelle and Scott gave us the experience of trying to survive the Zombie Apocalypse.  It was a fun scavenger hunt downtown!  It was great to get out and do something different.

Lydia and I were shopping at Target one day.  I was focused on where I was headed but I heard Lydia say, "If that one had ear buds it would look exactly like William."  I turned around to find this mannequin.  She was pretty spot on.  Too funny!

We got a new game--Sleeping Queens--and Lydia is obsessed!  It is really fun so someone is usually up to play with her.  She would play all day and all night if we let her!
