Community Field Trip

The second graders have been learning about communities in Social Studies and last week they went on a walking field trip around downtown.  (Just as a side note... our little downtown Main Street has been featured on show such as Homeland.  Pretty cool.)

I loaded Henry and Alexander in the car and we drove up to join them for a while. We started at the post office where they each mailed a letter.  William's traveled further than another letter.

We then headed over to town hall where the mayor took time to talk with us.  He was pretty funny and the kids loved him.  William thought it was pretty awesome that they got to see the mayor.

Next we walked over to the fire station.  We got a little tour of the place and the firemen showed off their truck.

While the second graders went into the station to learn about fire safety I entertained the little boys outside.

By this time it was past nap time so we headed back to the car.  I'm sad that we had to miss the police station, ice cream and the park for lunch!

Matchy

A week or so ago we pulled out the next size of clothes for Alexander (he is getting so big!)  We discovered that Alex and Henry have matchy jammies for the time being!  I love when they match!

Henry wasn't really in the mood for pictures and was being difficult.

Alexander was trying to keep him on the rocking chair... didn't work so well.

But I captured this one of my matching boys that I just love.

Pumpkin Patch

A few weeks ago we went to a local pumpkin patch with the ward playgroup.  It was such a frigid day!  Even after we got home I couldn't get warm!

For the price of admission we got to watch a puppet show

Feed the animals...

Build a scarecrow...

Take a tractor ride...

And pick a pumpkin to bring home...

The little boys and I had a great time (even though we were really, really cold!!)

And the ride out there was beautiful too!  There were fields of cotton the entire way there.  On the way home I stopped to take a picture of some to show the older boys... it's kind of sad looking because the rain soaked it.

Scenes from General Conference Weekend

We had a wonderful Conference weekend (a few weeks back).  Here is what it looked like at our house:

Stickers...

Articles of Faith puzzles...

Conference up on the wall...

Boys coloring...

Our countdown wall...

Our post-note wall...

We always love listening to conference.  It was a wonderful weekend filled with the spirit and amazing messages of hope.  I can't wait until I get the chance to re-read them!

Daily Sunshine

Today after school Alexander and William headed to the playroom and started playing a board game.  After a while James decided to join them as well.  This never happens in our house.  The boys are always wanting to play a video game or watch a show.  And if they aren't wanting/begging to do those things then William convinces everyone to play with legos.  This was a great change from the normal.  The best part was how well they all got along!

Little Picasso

Alex is my little artist.  I don't think the other boys loved to draw quite as much at Alexander.

Lately he has been working on coloring our little fort with sidewalk chalk.  Everytime I see him up there I think of the movie "Tangled" where she has painted her entire tower.

I'll be sad when the winter cold keeps us from going outdoors and enjoying our little Picasso's artwork.

Football and Fall Festival

A few weekends ago Rich was left with some college football tickets so he decided to take William with him.  The game was a few hours away but William seemed to have fun and enjoy spending some one-on-one time with Dad.

While they were gone all day I took the other 3 boys to our stake Fall Festival.  We got there just in time for a hayride.

Toward the end of the hayride there was a little pumpkin patch and each of the boys got to pick one.

There were fun games.

And lots of good food and treats.

It was the perfect way to kick off Fall.
