New House

Now that we've been in our new house for about 5 months now I figured it was time I gave a little tour.  There are still changes to make and some boxes to unpack but we are feeling mostly settled.  So here is a little look at our new home.

You walk into our odd shaped living room.

And then onto the kitchen:

Just past the kitchen is the laundry/second pantry/entrance to the garage.  And then there is a full bathroom and guest room.

And we just love our backyard.

When you go upstairs you land in the loft which serves as a tv/playroom.

There are three rooms upstairs.

James, Alex, and Henry's room:

William and Lydia's room:

The master bedroom:

So there you have it!  But, of course, it's always better to see it in person... We love having visitors (and we've got a room for you too!)

House

So for those of you who haven't heard... we are moving.  Again.  This time to Las Vegas.

We really thought we'd be here in North Carolina for years.  We loved it here.  It is beautiful, we have a wonderful ward, awesome neighborhood, and great schools.

It was a really hard decision to make and it's been a whirlwind ever since!  We made the final decision on Thursday (June 27th.)  We called a realtor on Friday and got our house up for sale.  We have had two houses for sale in the past and it's my least favorite thing--keeping it looking good (while trying to pack) and coordinating showings.  It's so stressful for me.  So Saturday morning (8:45am) we were cleaning up after a wonderful crepe breakfast and taking it easy.  And the phone rings.  There is a showing at 9:00!  We raced around the house trying to get it looking good enough to show.  It wasn't great but we got it acceptable looking.  While we were gone we got another call saying that we'd have a showing at 10:00.  We raced home to grab our swim suits so we could play at the pool while we waited for people to come and go.

By noon we received 2 offers.  It was crazy fast.  Rich will start work in one week and the boys and I will finish packing and will drive out on the 31st.

One of the sad things about leaving here is having to move from this house.  We took it from a smokey-smelling, ugly painted, filthy place to someplace that we love.  I don't know that I ever posted pictures of our home here.  So for those who care... here is our house. (Some of these are pictures I took for the listing... but we never got a chance to put them up.  I took the rest after we had sold but they aren't picture perfect... forgive our mess!)

Loft/Reading nook... this is probably my favorite little spot.  You can't see well but those pictures on the wall are illustrations from children's books.  Each one represents one of my boys' names.

We really have loved it here.  And we'll miss so much about it.  But we are excited to move on to our next adventure as well!  Wish us luck!

Little chefs

My boys don't get home from school until almost 4:00 so from that time until nearly dinner we are working on homework and letting the boys have a little down time.  Unfortunately this leaves no time for them to help me in the kitchen.

Sundays are a different story though.  With 9:00 church I have plenty of time to let my boys help out.  They are the best potato peelers in the world.

After one Sunday dinner prep William had had such a great time that he temporarily changed his career aspirations from lego designer to chef.  He asked me to let him help out more so that he could learn for when he opened his own restaurant.  And if he doesn't become a chef?  At least he won't starve on his mission and at college!

James loves to set the table nice and fancy for our Sunday dinners as well. (Fancy = table cloth and glass cups for the boys.)  When I was little I always loved getting out the table cloths and nicer dishes on Sundays.  I'm glad that James does too.

I love my little kitchen helpers!

Home Is Wherever I'm With You

Well, we've been our house for about 9 months now.  For the last several months I've been meaning to take pictures of the house to share with all my friends and family spread out across the county but I wanted to get all my pictures hung up first.  That's never going to happen... No, I'm not being negative--just honest.  You see, in just a matter of weeks we are going to be headed out on a new adventure in North Carolina.  It has been a whirlwind of a month and Rich is already out in Charlotte for a third week.  So here is our wonderful house in all it's glory.... we're going to be sad to leave it!
