August 2020

Back in May when William was eligible to get his driver's permit the DMV was closed because of the pandemic.  Then there were issues with getting appointments.  Rich spent the night at the DMV (2 different nights) so that William would have a chance to do a walk-in appointment on Saturday morning.  He was happy to finally have his permit!

Lydia decided to play "Primary" with her dolls one Sunday.

She also loves to wear her great-great Grandma Peterson's earrings.

She also loves the bear claw necklace from the bear Grandpa Fisher killed.

Our kids' dreams came true when we finally bought a trampoline.  It was a good investment... they play on it all the time.

The Davis's were out of town and we took advantage of swimming in their pool.  It was a lot of fun!

Lydia and Evelyn had a virtual tea party.  They were so cute in their conversation and then they decided to play a game of Sleeping Queens.

We had a chocolate chip tasting one day.  Delicious!

Henry planned a breakfast party for us one morning.  He made muffins the day before and we ate on the trampoline (until it was too hot).

We finally got to go to church!  It was 5 months of exclusively home church.  We got to go to church one week in August.  It was weird having to wear masks and not sing.

The movie theaters finally opened!  Rich and I intended to watch a movie and then the projector broke!  Luckily they gave us a few vouchers so that we could go the movies another time.

July 2020

July was a fun month!

On the 4th of July, William put on a fireworks show for us because Rich was in bed, sick.  (We later found out it was Coronavirus--but no one else in the house got sick).

Henry always keeps us laughing.

We took our annual bike ride down to GVG.  Lydia rode her bike so I didn't have anyone to pull in my trailer!

We experimented in the kitchen... we made hand pies with our backyard apples.  They were delicious!

And James learned how to make pretzels bites!

The kids decided they wanted to earn extra video game time and cash so they started scrubbing my grout every day.  Win-win!

Lots of fun playing with water.

We made homemade rootbeer.

My entire family was able to hop on and chat with Jacob!

The Old Mormon Fort had a Pioneer Day celebration so we took a little visit.

We even discovered a relative who was one of the first missionaries to come down to Las Vegas!

Did kept busy with activities... like tie dye,

and rock candy,

and lego masters.

Oklahoma--OK!

We headed out to Oklahoma again this year! Our kids are great travelers which makes road trips great.

Masks aren't required in Nevada but they are in New Mexico so we had to improvise when we stopped for gas.  They look like a bunch of bandits!

Kayaking

Daniela's brother, Ben, moved to Piedmont and lives by a little creek.  They invited us over for dinner and a little bit of kayaking and fishing.  It was so fun! William went a little to far and took the wrong turn on his way back.  He was gone for quite a while but found his way back eventually.

Random Happenings

Lisa challenged the kids to a wall sit.

We had a great time swimming at Bob's house.

Braum's is always a must.

We had fun playing at the neighborhood park.

Wichita Mountains

We had a great time exploring the Wichita Mountains.  In all the years we lived in Oklahoma I never had visited there!

Swimming Hole

After hiking around a bit we visited the Medicine Park swimming hole.  It was a cool little place!

More Random Happenings
Makeovers at Catie's house, rolling coins at Grandma's, video games, Alex's severe reaction to the cat, and sleepovers (Boys at grandma's and girls at Catie's).  More swimming at Bob's, a stop at Bass Pro Shop, playing football at the park, games at Bob's, and tie-dying.

Park and Farmer's Market
Our last day we went to a new park downtown and the Saturday Farmer's Market.

Cadallac Ranch
On our return trip home we had a few fun stops.  These rest stops reminded me of the stops we made when I moved to Texas before 4th grade.

First stop was Cadillac Ranch.  We've driven past a million times but this time we actually stopped!  We found some cans of spray paint that were left there and had fun adding to the "art".

Petrified National Forrest
On day 2 we stopped at the Petrified National Forrest.  We had stopped here for gas years ago when I drove the boys out to Las Vegas but didn't want to take the extra hour to drive through the entire thing so we just looked in the visitors center.  This time we drove through the whole park.
