Spring Break

Our Spring Break plans were originally to head to Yellowstone with a few little stops along the way.  However, that just wasn't in the cards for us but we did have a great time anyway.

Our first stop was Rexburg, ID.  We got in late at night and the next morning Rich took us to the St. Anthony sand dunes.  It was cold and snowy but so much fun!

After eating some lunch and getting the sand off us we headed over to Heise Hot Springs.

For dinner we stopped at Big Jud's (which the kids now call Jubjub's Fun House) and then we got pie at the cutest little country store.

After church on Sunday we drove to Burley to visit Great-Grandpa Crane.  We had a nice visit and the kids liked looking around the house.  Lydia got to pick out a special tea pot that belonged to Great Grandma Crane.

When we returned to Rexburg Rich took us on a tour of the BYU-Idaho campus.  It is a beautiful place!  The kids especially loved playing hide-and-seek in the dark, empty classrooms.

In the evening we had a fun, family game night.

Monday morning we woke up early with the plan to head out to Yellowstone National Park.  It was getting snowy as we drove but we thought we'd still be able to make it.  However, when the snow really started coming down and we saw signs suggesting tire chains and warning that there would be no snow plows going up the mountain we decided it would be best to turn around.

As we headed toward Provo we passed through Grand Targhee National Forest.  We decided to stop on the side of the road and play in the snow.

Once in Provo we took a short tour of BYU (and the kids insisted on playing hide-and-seek in the dark again.  And, of course, we stopped by the Creamery for a treat.

In the evening the Seversons came down and we played at Nickel City (aka the Nickelcade).

On our way out of town on Tuesday we had to stop by Southridge.

Tuesday was just a travel day, but as we got closer to Southern Utah Rich and I decided to take advantage of Henry's National Parks pass and stop by Zion National Park.  Some of the kids had a bad attitude but we enjoyed the very small park of Zion that we were able to see.  We will have to plan another trip up there!

Overall, we had a great Spring Break!

Oklahoma--OK!

We headed out to Oklahoma again this year! Our kids are great travelers which makes road trips great.

Masks aren't required in Nevada but they are in New Mexico so we had to improvise when we stopped for gas.  They look like a bunch of bandits!

Kayaking

Daniela's brother, Ben, moved to Piedmont and lives by a little creek.  They invited us over for dinner and a little bit of kayaking and fishing.  It was so fun! William went a little to far and took the wrong turn on his way back.  He was gone for quite a while but found his way back eventually.

Random Happenings

Lisa challenged the kids to a wall sit.

We had a great time swimming at Bob's house.

Braum's is always a must.

We had fun playing at the neighborhood park.

Wichita Mountains

We had a great time exploring the Wichita Mountains.  In all the years we lived in Oklahoma I never had visited there!

Swimming Hole

After hiking around a bit we visited the Medicine Park swimming hole.  It was a cool little place!

More Random Happenings
Makeovers at Catie's house, rolling coins at Grandma's, video games, Alex's severe reaction to the cat, and sleepovers (Boys at grandma's and girls at Catie's).  More swimming at Bob's, a stop at Bass Pro Shop, playing football at the park, games at Bob's, and tie-dying.

Park and Farmer's Market
Our last day we went to a new park downtown and the Saturday Farmer's Market.

Cadallac Ranch
On our return trip home we had a few fun stops.  These rest stops reminded me of the stops we made when I moved to Texas before 4th grade.

First stop was Cadillac Ranch.  We've driven past a million times but this time we actually stopped!  We found some cans of spray paint that were left there and had fun adding to the "art".

Petrified National Forrest
On day 2 we stopped at the Petrified National Forrest.  We had stopped here for gas years ago when I drove the boys out to Las Vegas but didn't want to take the extra hour to drive through the entire thing so we just looked in the visitors center.  This time we drove through the whole park.
