June happenings

June was full of fun things to do.  This will be long!

We went Krispy Kreme for National Donut Day to get our free donuts as well as our “glazed for As” donuts.

Our apple tree was producing great!  Our apples in the past have been teeny tiny.  This year I really thinned the fruit and our apples were big!

Lydia always keeps us laughing by making crazy faces.  She’s also started saying things that I don’t love (like “butt”) because she knows it will get a laugh out of her big brothers.  Oh brother!

We also got our nice long kitchen table delivered.  It’s not exactly what I had in mind but it is growing on me and it’s so nice to have something bigger!  I feel like we can have friends over for dinner now without being squished.

One of my Laurels (Rachel Gadeski) made an extra flower crown for Lydia at camp.  Lydia loved it and so did I!

The boys thought that they were really funny to try it on as well... and took pictures of each other before church.

Lydia loves to wake me up every morning with a kiss and a reminder that "it's wake up time!"

Some friends in the neighborhood (the Ritchie’s) invited us (and a bunch of other friends) over to the grass area to have a water fight.  It was really fun!

It was also the same day that Rich discovered a leak in the pipe leading to the water heater which flooded a good chunk of the downstairs.  We were lucky that we caught it when we did.

Henry and Lydia also had swimming lessons with our neighbor, Kim.  She is awesome.  However, Lydia refused to put her face in the water which made it impossible to make any real progress.  Henry, on the other hand, did awesome and is a little fish... he just needs to believe in himself a little more.

The kids went around to our neighbors and delivered apples from our tree.

William went with Rich to visit one of his ministering families.  While they were over there Rich told the story of when we saw a homeless man standing on the off ramp of the freeway.  Since we were stopped Rich gave him the box of cheddar whales that I always had in the car.  William was so angry (he was probably 4?) that we would give away his crackers.
A few weeks later I was over at their house for mutual and the mom tells me, “I have a gift for William.  Will you give it to him?”  She ran into the house and came out with a box of cheddar whales.  She said her boys had seen them at the store and thought it was so funny that they had to buy them.  William was so happy when I gave them to him that night.

Alexander had a great time at the library Minecraft party!  He did all the activities and had fun doing something on his own.

James and Lydia are great little helpers in the kitchen.

For one of James’s goals this summer he wanted to make a new recipe.  He made homemade root beer.  He decided the yeast kind is pretty gross and wants to make some with dry ice.

One weekend in June Rich’s cousin Chad and his family were in town.  We went with them to the Gilcrease Bird Sanctuary.

After lunch at our house we all drove down to their hotel to swim in the pool and eat some dinner.
It was so much fun to hang out with them!

Lydia and Henry were matchy in their OKC Barons hockey shirts.

I loved having a big bowl full of apples sitting on my table all summer.

The boys all made or bought a gift for Rich for Father's Day.  He also got some battle ropes which he's been loving working out with.

We had a great water balloon fight in the backyard.  The self tying balloons make it SO easy... and each kid had their own color.

Lydia is too funny getting her dress on and the boys insisted we needed to document it.

We went to see The Incredibles 2 but Lydia needed to get a picture with the Teen Titans.  She loves them... especially Robin.

Lydia's friend, Kora, had a mermaid birthday party and it was too much fun.

Rich was having too much fun at Walmart on our date.

William headed off to scout camp in California and had a blast!

I got a haircut after camp!  Hooray!

Henry loved trying on the flower crowns that were forgotten at camp.

We love the mini drumsticks from Trader Joe's.

We also checked out the new traveling exhibit at Springs Preserve--Nature's Ninjas.  It was pretty awesome!

We did some rock painting as well.

Henry and Lydia even did a little science experiment--and when that didn't work out so well they raced leaves down the water.

Phew!  On to July!
