March 2020--pre-quarantine

March started out with lots of fun.
Alex and Henry dressed matching for twin day at school.

Our fruit trees were all in bloom!

Lydia and I enjoyed the park while the boys did karate.

We discovered a brand new playground in town.  It was lots of fun!

Lydia joined Rich when he went over to the Huntsman's to help with seminary stuff.  They came home with lots of eggs and meat!  Lydia took complete ownership of those eggs and we had to ask if we could use them!

Right before everything shut down I decided I should head to the store to grab a few things (especially since James's birthday was the next week and he had specific requests).  The store was insane!  Shopping carts full of food and just abandoned in the aisles! Lines wrapped around the store!

We got quite a bit of rain and we loved playing outside in it!

Rich and I went to the temple over the weekend and I'm so glad that we did since the temples are closed for the foreseeable future.

Alex, Henry, and Lydia had one last class before everything was shut down.  Lydia was lucky to be one of 3 girls in attendance so she got lots of one-on-one attention.

New Sports

In February Alex, Henry, and Lydia decided to try out some new sports!  Henry and Alex started karate and Lydia is trying ballet.  I found some classes at the community center on Saturday mornings.  First a 30 ballet class for Lydia, then a 30 minute break, and afterward 1 1/2 hour karate class.  The class description said that it was an hour... so it was quite a surprise when it kept going!

The first week Alex was sick so it was just Henry and Lydia.  They both really liked their classes.  Lydia did great  playing quietly for so long during karate and Henry stuck it out through the whole class.  Since that extra 30 minutes was unexpected I treated Henry and Lydia to some Dippin' Dots (I get a free cup every month this year.)

In between ballet and karate we usually head out to the car, listen to music or a story, and get a snack.

Everyone seems to enjoy their classes and they have learned a lot.

We had just signed up for another month of classes and then the Coronavirus hit the country... so classes were cancelled and refunded.  Hopefully they'll want to join again when life is back to normal.

Baseball

Henry was so excited to play baseball this year!  He especially loved that Rich was his coach.

The season started with a big kickoff where all the teams got to be in a parade and were announced to everyone.  There was food and activities all day.

Watching Henry's games ended up being entertaining because we were always looking to see what he was doing out there.  Like putting his glove on his head instead of his hand.

I think Henry's favorite part of playing was the snack afterward!  He did love it when his kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Cochran, came to watch him play.  He thought that was pretty special!

We finally got a picture of the whole team at the last game.

At the end of the season we had a team party at our house.  We didn't really have to do much because the team mom planned the entire thing. She went all out and it was adorable!

All the coaches...

One last time to shout, "Go Cubs!"

Flag Football--Second Season

Rich was asked to help coach flag football again this Fall.  This time James and Alex were on the same team.

The boys had a lot of fun playing together and they both had some really good plays.

Here is Alex making a run nearly the entire length of the field.  He was so happy!

James was one of the best players on the team.  He's so quick!  I think he made at least one touchdown during every game.

The Lions really had a great season and in the end they finished 2nd overall!

At the championship game you could guess what the final score would be.  William and his buddies all made guesses and agreed to split the candy bucket if they won.  William made a great guess (24-20) and won the prize!  The final score was 24-21.

Everyone was pretty happy to get trophies this season!

I'm glad that James and Alex could play on the same team and have so much fun!

Flag football

William and James have been wanting to play football for a l o n g  time.  Last year William still had pins in his arm though so he wasn't cleared to play.  Instead they played football before and after school at the park every day.  This year we finally signed them up for a flag football team.  We signed up with a bunch of boys from our ward which made practices convenient (they were close to home) and games more fun (lots of friends for all of us to talk/play with).

Unfortunetly I didn't get many pictures.  I blame it on the fact that it was right in the middle of our move and  I was chasing Lydia all over the field since Rich was coaching.  One of the moms took this picture while they did the team pictures one morning but I don't have one of William's team (sad!).

Thanks to another mom I have a few videos of the boys.  They really were great players!  Our bishop (who's boys were on James's team) commented several times how much fun it was to watch James.  He told me that James was "sneaky fast" which was the perfect way to describe him!

William was really fun to watch too.

It will be fun to see what sport they decide to try next year!

Basketball

Alex had a fun time playing basketball during the winter season.

(l-r: Isaiah, Caden, Jordan, Jake, Jayvon, Eli, Alex)

He was one of the youngest, smaller players on the Goosebumps team (and the league) but he was also so excited to learn and be out there.  He really tried hard and was one of the smiliest players I've ever seen.

Since James came home with huge trophies last year Alex was a little disappointed with the medal that he received.  But he had a fun time at the awards ceremony anyway.

The best part about our team was that we got to see the Fitzgibbons often!  Adam and Alex are second generation friends.

I'm excited to see what activity Alex will choose to conquer next.
