Spring

While the rest of the country is still experiencing winter Spring has pretty much come and gone here in the desert.  I loved looking at this pretty tree in our backyard.

It was the perfect view from my hammock.  And even better when I have a little helper to rock me back and forth.

King James turns 7

It's hard to believe another year has gone by and that James is now 7.  This past year he has continued to be a wonderful helper around the house and has discovered a love for basketball and reading.  Every Saturday he wants to head to the church or the school to practice shooting hoops--and he has some pretty awesome dribbling skills!  He loves to read and has been devouring books (and not just easy books--he loves chapter books that are at a 3rd grade reading level!)  As always he is sweet, cuddly, loves to tease, and play outside.  We are looking forward to another great year with James as he prepares for baptism!

Taking the boys to the Ballet

At the beginning of the year we found out that the BYU Ballet was going to be performing here in Las Vegas.  Rich suggested that I take some of the boys but I didn't think they'd really want to join me.  Lucky for me the boys don't know that the ballet is a bit "girly".  In fact, once they realized that they didn't have to be on stage in tutus, they were all excited to come with me!

We were lucky enough to meet up with the Fitzgibbons crew there (although I'm not sure if Ryan was so excited to be there!)

The company performed bits of different fairy tales and the boys did surprisingly well.  Except James lost it a little during Swan Lake.  But that was understandable because it was really long

At the intermission they invited the children to head up to the stage and dance with the ballerinas.  Alex really wanted to go up there but we made it up just as the song was ending.  He still thought it was pretty cool to get up on stage though!

And the other boys were really lucky that Ryan felt bad for them and bought them some snacks for making it through the first half!  James was much better after that.  It was getting a little late for Alex at that point though so he laid his head down for much of the second half.

Afterwards I took the boys for some frozen yogurt which they thought was pretty cool--except Alex who was so tired he laid down on the bench and didn't eat more than a bite!

It was a really fun night out with the boys and I think they enjoyed themselves.  We'll have to see what cultural event I can get them to next!
