family night by William

The boys recently told me of a game they play in PE called "Gauntlet."  Since our school-year theme has to do with knights we talked about what a gauntlet was and I commented that we might play this game for family night (if I remembered).  William was on lesson the following week and reminded me of this game.  (Sorry for the blurry pictures!)

He and I came up with an analogy that life is like a gauntlet and that bad things will come our way.  But if we stick to the commandments we could get through to the other side (returning to Heavenly Father).

But sometimes we'll fall down anyway... which is why we have the atonement.  We can repent and keep going.

The boys especially loved it when it was mom and dad's turn to run the gauntlet!  We had a great time and hopefully learned something.

4 months

This little girl is 4 months old!  Even though she's a tiny little thing she's still growing up too fast!  I keep telling her to slow down but she doesn't listen.

People continue to ooh and ahh over her.  She really loves it when people tell her that she's beautiful (doesn't every girl?)  This month I was stopped while at a funeral by someone asking if they could look at her.  And later at a grocery store an older woman came over to tell me how gorgeous Lydia was--like a porcelain doll-- and then sat and stared at her for a while.  (I remember my mom telling me that she had similar experiences when I was a baby--like mother, like daughter?)

This last month Lydia has really started to drool (teething maybe?) and chew on her fingers.  She loves sitting up in her bumbo so that she can be part of the conversation.  And she has really discovered her voice... lots of talking and squealing that is just too cute!

100 days of school

We recently celebrated 100 days of school.  This is the first time one of my boys has had to dress up like they are 100.  Alex had a good time wearing his "old man" outfit and glasses.  He really liked seeing all his friends dressed up as well.  (One girl had an oxygen tank!)

Alex has loved school so far.  He loves his teacher, is a great writer, and a wonderful reader.  I love reading his stories from school!  He puts so much detail into his work (unlike his brothers who just wanted to finish fast) and it is just fun to read.

3 months

On January 23rd Lydia turned 3 months old.  She is sleeping through the night, loves her brothers, is always happy when she's getting attention and doesn't like to be left out of what's going on.  She even gave us a nice big laugh this month and she gets excited to see herself in the mirror. Everyone comments that she looks like a doll--and we agree!

And this one was just too funny.  I had to document it.

Matchy Cougars

The other day as Henry got dressed in his BYU shirt he insisted that Lydia wear her "bee-I-ooo" shirt as well so they could be matching.  He was just so excited to be matching his little sister.  I know that the days of him wanting to match her (or anyone) are numbered so I needed some pictures!

When we picked up Alex from school we realized that Alex was matching too!  So we took more pictures.  Henry even wanted to sing the fight song.

Lydia completed her outfit with her BYU socks--which I bought for Jacob over 14 years ago!  I sent them to him right after he was born and I was still at school.  All my boys have worn them as well.

Daily Sunshine

I always know if Alex has been downstairs to eat breakfast because he likes to turn on the fireplace.  It makes the kitchen nice and cozy so I don't blame him!

One morning I came down to find the boys all eating breakfast right around the fire.  I just love these boys!  (Grandpa Fisher I think Henry's hook 'em horns are for you!)
