May 2019--end of school

May is always a crazy busy month with the end of school approaching!

Lydia and Alex loved going with Rich to free comic book day!

James was able to go to the motocross with the Mathewson's.  He had a great time!

I spent more time painting the house.  This time it was William's new room (the old guest room) downstairs.

I also finally finished a project I started months ago.  Isn't our peg family adorable?

At school Alex and Henry earned a reading reward.  In order to cash it in it would cost a whole lot more than I was willing to pay so I offered to treat them to frozen yogurt.  I finally took them out and they loved it.

William and James had their last band concert of the year.  They both improved so much!

Amy Mathewson and I headed up the Mother-Son PTO event at school.  It was a huge success!

(Lydia helped me set up... but I lost the picture of me with Alex and Henry from that night!)

The kids and Rich spoiled me for Mother's Day.

Henry went on a super fun field trip to the Gilcrease Orchard!

He brought home a whole bag of carrots that he picked!

Alex had a huge 4th grade project!  We were glad to get it turned in and he did a great job.

And then we had awards assemblies!  James started us out.  He did great his first year of middle school.

The elementary school did a Leadership Day and the kids got to show us what they've been working on.

The 4th graders also had a fun day playing outside one afternoon with rootbeer floats and water balloons!

Rich and I celebrated 16 years of marriage!!

We enjoyed another Sunday afternoon wandering around Floyd Lamb and enjoying the surprisingly nice weather.

Lydia collected a million feathers while we were there.

This slide at Heckethorn park has been a favorite reading spot since we moved here.  It will be sad when the last of my kids outgrows it.

And then we got back to assemblies.  Henry had an amazing year!  A huge thanks goes to Ms. Knight who made such a difference for Henry.

Alexander also had a great year.  He had a great teacher, Mrs. Holloway, as well.

Everyone was certain that Alex was going to win the award for most AR points in the 4th grade.  This kid never stops reading!  I think he was disappointed that he didn't win.  His class gave him the Bright Bookworm award though.  And our sweet neighbor, Abby Davis, decided that he should have won that award.  So that day she went down to DI and got an entire sackful of books to give to him.  He felt so special!

We finally made it to the last day of school!  It's crazy that it was cool enough outside to wear jackets at the end of May in Las Vegas!

I made a giant cookie in celebration of a school-free summer!

To kick off summer we went to party at the Fitzgibbons' house!

Preschool Graduation

We did a super simple but adorable "graduation" ceremony for the kids in our preschool co-op.

We had such a fun group of kids and moms this year!  Lydia really loved her preschool days!

Alex's 10th birthday!

Alex was so excited that his birthday fell on a Saturday so that he could have his birthday party on his actual birthday!

His friends came over for a fun Lego themed party that Alex planned.  First they decorated bags for later (to collect their pinata candy in).

Next they played our own version on creationary.  The kids each drew a card and had a limited amount of time to build the object.  Then everyone would guess what they built.  I think they had fun!

Next, we ran outside and smashed the pinata!

After collecting their loot we headed inside for cake (double chocolate banana cake).

Alex decorated the top.

He loved all the gifts he received.

Alex had such a great day!  I can't believe how old he is now!
